VUEA is over 700 educators, working together for the students and families of Ventura, California. We love our jobs, our district, and our community. But most of all, we love our kids. Thank you, Ventura!

VUEA Immigrant Statement

The Ventura Unified Education Association voices its support for Ventura’s immigrant community and stands in solidarity with Ventura Unified School District’s immigrant families. Regardless of race, ethnicity, or citizenship status, our students deserve access to a quality education. Education is a civil right, and it is crucial that the Ventura community treats our students with dignity and respect. Because of this, we also echo Ventura Unified’s declaration, “for the future of every student,” and reaffirm our commitment to support all VUSD students, staff, and families.

We stand together in this struggle with our brethren in the United Farm Workers of America and the broader VUSD community. In light of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Noem v. Vasquez Perdomo and the accompanying raids in Ventura County, we demand further immigration training for all school staff to support our immigrant students and their families. We also stand with our fellow CTA union members when we state definitively that ICE has no place in our schools. Our students cannot learn in fear, just as our families and staff cannot thrive in the face of danger. In the wake of these threats, we continue our unwavering support of our immigrant community and vow to protect our students.

We are VUEA. We are union strong. Together, we will continue to support our most vulnerable students and families. Everyone is welcome here.
